Powerscourt Town Centre

Creating a new heart of the city. Through strengthening urban routes and simplifying circulation, a distinctive retail experience is preconceived.

Powerscourt is a distinctive example of specialty retail design. Based in a listed 18th Century townhouse, a bespoke collection of boutique goods, jewellery, art and fine dining lends itself to a context not usually associated with retail.

Simplifying and redesigning the urban route and internal circulation was the first step in improving user experience. The original courtyard is transformed into a dramatic light dappled urban space that accommodates a changing programme of day and evening events. The new roof and Piano Nobile transform the courtyard, improve environmental performance and restore its original classical order. Focusing on flexible event space, natural lighting conditions and legible navigation, the project looked to represent a unique retail experience.
