Heritage

We understand the value that our heritage brings to the built environment.  The narratives that historic buildings contain are central to a place’s unique character, and need an experienced hand to bring out the best in the new and old.  We seek to be sensitive to the past whilst also striving to construct new identities that confidently reflect the present and future life of a building.

Our extensive experience working with listed buildings, many of which are important historic and cultural landmarks, has equipped us to navigate the intricacies of the planning system for the benefit of all interested parties.  The role of the architect in such situations goes far beyond design and requires coordinating the visions and desires of diverse parties.  We understand the importance of careful consultation and that clear communication through written and visual materials can allay concerns.  Our work at the Architectural Association, the British Museum, Cadogan Estate and Exeter College at the University of Oxford show our impeccable record of securing Listed Building Consents and realising ambitious projects in heritage contexts.
