Public Realm
We believe in the potential for imaginative design to make meaningful public spaces that not only connect our buildings to the outdoors, but also enhance a sense of place and identity. In practical terms, our approach to the design of landmark places has built enduring links with local communities, and significantly increased footfall by attracting new users. Our experience includes the design of masterplans, urban spaces and pavilions, and infrastructure.
Adept at seeing the big picture, our strengths lie in placing equal attention to the design of a building’s surroundings as we do to the architecture itself. We are motivated to create designs that resonate with people, to create memorable gathering places with possibilities for personal expression. In 2020, Nex were recognised by Building Design as the UK Public Realm Architect of the year, citing our success in creating valuable and valued public space at the heart of the Duke of York Restaurant, Royal Wharf Pier and the RAF Museum.
